Moje

A trade mark for many years

He smoked Camel Lights right up until we moved to Cornwall, when he then switched to roll-ups. I think this was to do with our drop in income. He was remembered for pre-rolling his fags and kept all his tobbacco in a tin and lit fags with one of his many zippos.

A very Simon snap

I have no idea who took this, it might have been Mum but judging by the angle it could have been me or Joe.

Wedding

Simon and Lis married at Haringey Registry Office on the 26th August, 1989.

He once joked "I call Lis my first wife to keep her on her toes."
She replied, "And I call him my second husband to keep him on his."

Favourite view, favourite place

A deliberate shot through our holiday home window, overlooking Scilly harbour with the usual array of beverages decorating the window sill. We only have very happy memories in Scilly, probably because Dad was only ever in a very good mood.

Sightseeing

Dad took Joe and I around London one day, I think we also went to the National History Musem that day to look at dinosaur bones.

Self portrait

Probably around the time he first started dabbling in photography.

Simon and Jo

Not sure how old they were here, my guess is not very. They look very neat and tidy though, so perhaps it was a special occasion like a birthday or first day of school. There are lots of photos of new outfits for karate or horse riding gear and pictures of Dad with new toys etc. They will all come up on the blog sooner or later.

Happy

Standard pose. At his most happy, on his way over to Scilly with the 5,o,clock club from Mousehole for a day of drinking in the pubs on St Marys.

Cricket Lessons

Dad appears to be teaching Joe to play cricket over the heads of me and my new baby cousin, Luke. This photo was taken in his parents garden in Edgeware.

No idea...

...why he kept these, they aren't even tickets. I don't know what he went to see, but it was at the Royal Albert Hall. He might have framed the tickets.

Crouch End Hill 1890

This postcard doesn't mention a photographer but it does say,

View down the hill towards the Broadway, with the Old Smithy on the right.

Working space

Dad took this photograph of his desk at his parents house in Edgeware, sometime in the 80's.

Knife's / Blaades

These were littered everywhere in our house. Dad used them for work mostly but also liked to leisurely cut out tiny bits of magazines. Unlike his feet, his hands were incredibly steady. Surprising but true.

The Cowboy Boots

Dad bought these cowboy boots sometime between 1987 and 1988. He wore them to death and had them up until about 1997 when Mum finally threw them in the bin and poured curry over them to stop him from fishing them back out.
